New Single • Standalone (2026). Glasgow, Scotland, UK.

The Rooks Bring Glasgow’s Grassroots Ambition to British Rock

Glasgow five-piece The Rooks have built their identity around anthemic guitar music, combining British rock influences with an appetite for big emotional statements. School friends Ross Gardiner, Cameron McKie, Matthew McFadyen, Kieran Luddy and Coll McKinnon developed that approach across early singles and their debut EP, Noise & Confusion. A sold-out Glasgow School of Art headline show in December 2025 gave their growing local following a concrete milestone. Released on October 16, 2026, “Falling Down” arrives as the band’s reach extends further, paired with a second track, “But Tonight.”

Falling Down: A New Chapter Beyond Noise and Confusion

At 4:28, “Falling Down” gives The Rooks more space than a tightly compressed radio single. It sits within a catalogue associated with forceful guitar music and expansive songwriting, an approach reflected in the Oasis and early Stereophonics comparisons quoted in their biography. Those references establish the band’s broader musical territory; the available release information does not support a more detailed account of this recording’s arrangement.

The title suggests instability, but a specific lyrical interpretation would require verified lyrics or a statement from the band. Its clearest context is its position after Noise & Confusion and May’s “Nothing to Lose”: another original release through which The Rooks can develop their voice. Pairing it with “But Tonight” also gives listeners two songs to explore at this stage of their progression.

Why It Matters: Grassroots Support Gives Rock Ambition Substance

Emerging guitar bands build lasting momentum when attention becomes commitment. Familiar musical influences can attract an initial audience, while original songs and sustained engagement give that audience reasons to stay. The Rooks’ progression from early releases to a sold-out hometown headline show provides evidence of that relationship developing.

“Falling Down” now carries the task of extending that connection through recorded music. Upcoming appearances with The Snuts and a December headline at Saint Luke’s create further opportunities for discovery, but the songs will determine what follows. The Rooks’ next step depends on turning growing recognition into a catalogue listeners make their own.
