Why it is trending: Selve’s “Creature of the Night” is building momentum as the first glimpse into their independently recorded sophomore album Breaking Into Heaven, created in Studio 3 at Abbey Road and fuelled by a year of relentless touring and global songwriting.

Selve are a six-piece alt-rock force led by Jabirr Jabirr frontman Loki Liddle, carving a path that fuses cultural identity, high-energy performance, and expansive rock ambition. After a landmark year that included their 12-show Red Desert Dream Tour across Australia and the EU/UK World Wide Wave Tour, the band spent three months writing and recording across Broome, France, and London — culminating in sessions at Abbey Road Studios for their upcoming album Breaking Into Heaven. Their ascent has seen them perform at major festivals including SXSW Sydney, BIGSOUND, Woodford Folk Festival and Brisbane Festival, while sharing stages with icons like Archie Roach, Jessica Mauboy, Electric Fields, Matt Corby and The Cat Empire.

“Creature of the Night” channels Selve’s signature dynamism — driving guitars, urgent rhythms, and Liddle’s commanding vocal presence — into a track that feels both cinematic and grounded. There’s a restless energy pulsing through the song, balancing introspection with defiance, as it explores identity, resilience and transformation after dark. With the weight of lived experience and global perspective behind it, the track signals a band not just stepping forward, but breaking through.
