Lip Critic have unleashed “Jackpot,” the latest taste of their forthcoming album Theft World, arriving May 1 via Partisan Records. Following previous single “Legs In A Snare,” the track hammers the senses with fruit-machine pings and slot-machine chaos, while frontman Bret Kaser delivers rowdy, unhinged vocals. The band describe it as “a song about risking it all, and winning it all, betting the house, and ending up with two houses, then waking up with nothing at all” — a spiralling portrait of a protagonist groomed by gambling ads and now locked in battle with his own circuitry.

The single feeds directly into the concept of Theft World, which the band call “an ode to the power and pervasiveness of stealing.” The album’s origins trace back to touring their 2024 debut Hex Dealer, when Kaser discovered his identity had been stolen — including someone using his details to purchase the band’s entire discography on Bandcamp. Instead of pressing charges, the band leaned into the absurdity, recording the fan’s imagined mythology and transforming the experience into fuel for their next chapter.

To mark the rollout, Lip Critic are staging a New York residency titled Theft Saga, with shows at Yong Xin Tan Laundromat in Brooklyn, Spring Bar’s Basement, and Frost St Boxing Ring — venues as unconventional as their sound.
