Ownlife is a Perth-based self-produced dance/pop act and the 2025 WAM Electronic Song of the Year winner, carving out a distinct space in Australia’s electronic scene. At just 20, Ownlife transitioned from singer-songwriter roots into the world of live electronic performance, bringing vocals into the DJ booth — a rare and personal touch in club-adjacent production.
Following his debut EP Cry Dance, which fused 2000s dance nostalgia with modern house and garage, Ownlife has built strong momentum. He’s supported Newport on an Australian headline tour (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane), as well as What So Not and Grammy-nominated DJ/songwriter Will Clarke. His sophomore EP Close Disconnect marks a deeper evolution — emotionally expansive, sonically ambitious, and rooted in themes of ego death, burnout, and creative surrender. Drawing inspiration from artists like RÜFÜS DU SOL, Fred again.., and Porter Robinson, Ownlife blends atmospheric club production with vulnerable songwriting.
“If Only” sits firmly in the club-adjacent lane — emotionally open yet rhythmically propulsive. The track explores longing and self-reflection, pairing shimmering synth textures with driving percussion and heartfelt vocal delivery. There’s a sense of release woven through the production: not explosive, but immersive — the kind of song built for late-night clarity under strobes.
“If Only” continues Ownlife’s evolution toward something more self-aware and expansive, proving that dance music can still feel deeply personal. With new music arriving February 13, the next chapter is already in motion.
