New Single • 𝟙𝟛 — from the upcoming EP PRAELIA (out November 13, 2026). Bangor, Wales, UK.

C E L Λ V I Bring Welsh Identity and Fearless Energy to Modern Nu-Metal

C E L Λ V I are a Welsh alternative-metal duo from Bangor, North Wales, formed by Gwion and Sarah. Their genre-defying sound combines nu-metal, gothic rock, industrial electronics and alternative rock, creating explosive, empowering music that challenges conventional boundaries. Performing in both Welsh and English, the duo embrace their cultural identity while addressing an international audience of outsiders and alternative-music fans. Their historic appearance at Download Festival as the first Welsh-language act to perform at the event marked an important milestone for Welsh representation in heavy music. Working with Grammy-nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda, C E L Λ V I continue developing a distinctive musical identity built around intensity, individuality and creative independence.

𝟙𝟛: Welsh-Language Nu-Metal Meets Phonk and Unapologetic Defiance

“𝟙𝟛” is a Welsh-language nu-metal single released on October 30, 2026, through independent label MERAKI, ahead of the duo's forthcoming EP PRAELIA, scheduled for November 13. Produced, mixed and mastered by Romesh Dodangoda, the track combines the aggressive intensity of early-2000s nu-metal with contemporary phonk influences, pushing C E L Λ V I's sound toward a heavier, rhythmically adventurous direction. Its pounding energy and confrontational attitude reinforce the duo's commitment to expanding metal's boundaries while keeping the Welsh language central to their artistic identity.

The song celebrates resilience, self-belief and the determination to be heard, presenting an anthem for outsiders who refuse to accept limitations imposed by others. Sarah Wynn Griffiths describes it as a defiant statement for underdogs, while Gwion emphasizes the band's progression through phonk-inspired experimentation. The accompanying video, created in collaboration with Loki Films and featuring vehicles from Unit Thirteen, extends the track's rebellious character into automotive imagery. “𝟙𝟛” transforms Welsh-language nu-metal into a forceful declaration of individuality, resistance and cultural pride.

Why It Matters: Welsh-Language Metal Breaks Into the International Heavy Music Scene

C E L Λ V I represent an important development in contemporary alternative metal, demonstrating that regional languages and cultural identities can strengthen rather than restrict international musical appeal. Their historic Download Festival performance, growing recognition across British rock media and appearances beyond Wales reflect increasing opportunities for artists who challenge traditional expectations of language and genre. By combining nu-metal nostalgia with modern electronic influences, the duo connect familiar heavy-music traditions with a distinctive Welsh perspective.

For C E L Λ V I, “𝟙𝟛” reinforces the momentum surrounding PRAELIA, an EP exploring personal battles, resilience and self-expression. Its fusion of aggressive metal, phonk rhythms and Welsh-language vocals demonstrates how musical innovation can coexist with cultural authenticity. “𝟙𝟛” positions C E L Λ V I at the intersection of modern nu-metal experimentation and Welsh cultural representation, proving that powerful music does not need to abandon its roots to reach a global audience.
