Why The Slow Country Are Trending: From Manchester’s Underground to Indie Breakthrough
Manchester seven-piece The Slow Country are stepping firmly into the spotlight after announcing their signing to Heist or Hit and unveiling their stirring new single, “Firing Line.”
Now sharing a roster with artists such as Westside Cowboy, Her's, and ladylike, the band’s trajectory has taken a decisive upward turn.
The single also arrives with the added prestige of being produced by Bill Ryder-Jones, whose nuanced and emotionally rich production deepens the band’s already expansive indie-folk sound.
“Firing Line” tackles themes of anxiety, depression, and the destructive loops they can create.
Singer-guitarist Charlie Smith describes the track as reflecting how those feelings can feel like “an act of violence against oneself,” dulling awareness of the world’s beauty.
