New Single • Standalone (2026). Liverpool, England, UK.

Red Rum Club Add More Grit to Their Brass-Fuelled Liverpool Sound

Hailing from Liverpool, Red Rum Club have built a distinctive corner of British indie rock by combining guitar-driven hooks with the cinematic colour of brass and western-influenced melodies. Albums Western Approaches and BUCK pushed the band into the UK Top 10, while extensive touring across Britain, Europe and North America has transformed their widescreen songs into an increasingly formidable live proposition. Following BUCK, “Any Minute Now” begins their next chapter with a noticeably rougher guitar sound. The melodies remain immediate and the brass remains unmistakably Red Rum Club, but there is more dirt around the edges.

Any Minute Now: When the Polished Indie Anthem Gets Its Hands Dirty

“Any Minute Now” doesn't abandon the qualities that made Red Rum Club distinctive. Fran Doran's playful melodic delivery, instantly accessible hooks and bursts of brass remain at the centre, preserving the cinematic quality that has long separated the Liverpool band from more conventional indie-rock contemporaries.

What changes is the texture around them. The guitars carry a grittier, swaggering edge, bringing some of the band's American influences closer to the surface after years spent touring extensively across the US. That tension between Liverpool melody, American rock attitude and their characteristic brass gives “Any Minute Now” the feeling of evolution without reinvention: familiar enough to belong unmistakably to Red Rum Club, but rough enough to suggest that something is shifting.

Why It Matters: Indie Bands Are Getting Rougher Without Sacrificing the Hook

For established indie bands, progression often creates an unnecessary choice between accessibility and experimentation. “Any Minute Now” suggests another route: keep the melodies audiences already connect with, but change the textures surrounding them. More distortion, grit and looseness can alter the personality of a song without sacrificing its immediate appeal.

That makes the single an intriguing beginning to Red Rum Club's next phase. After five albums and years of increasingly large stages, they don't need to abandon their signature sound to move forward. “Any Minute Now” shows how an established identity can evolve through friction—keeping the brass, keeping the hooks, but allowing considerably more dirt underneath them.
