The Yagas is an alt-rock band that includes the Oscar- and Emmy-nominated actress Vera Farmiga as their frontwoman. The is based in New York. The track is described as an explosive yet luminous portrait of anticipatory grief. The song originated from a hypnotic beat created by Renn Hawkey after waking up from spinal surgery. Vera Farmiga stated that the song is a "song of searing lament" that embodies the feeling of "Why has thou forsaken me?". It explores the journey of someone yearning for the presence of a deceased loved one and pleading to break the silence of solitude. "Life Of A Widow" is featured on The Yagas' debut full-length album, "Midnight Minuet," which is set to be released on April 25. The album's sound has been mixed by Grammy nominee Brian Virtue and mastered by Grammy winner Emily Lazar.
