Merpire is the moniker of Melbourne-based artist Rhiannon Atkinson-Howatt, known for her introspective and genre-blending music that navigates themes of romance, self-discovery, and emotional vulnerability. Her sound combines elements of indie pop, dark pop, and dream pop, often described as existing between the realms of romantic comedies and horror films. Merpire gained recognition with her debut album Simulation Ride in 2021, which explored the search for positivity amidst anxiety. Her latest single, "Bigger," released in April 2025, serves as the second single from her forthcoming album Milk Pool, set to be released on July 4, 2025.
