Radio Free Alice is a four-piece new wave and post-punk band hailing from Melbourne, Australia. Formed in 2020, the band consists of Noah Learmonth on vocals and guitar, Jules Paradiso on guitar, Michael Phillips on bass and saxophone, and Lochie Dowd on drums. They have quickly made a name for themselves with their high-energy live performances and a sound that blends angular, guitar-driven rock with a distinct new wave swagger. The band draws inspiration from a wide range of artists, including 80s icons like The Cure and The Smiths, as well as more contemporary acts like The Strokes.
"Toyota Camry" is a stand-out single from their highly anticipated EP, Empty Words, which is scheduled for release on August 20, 2025. The song, which came out on July 30, 2025, was produced by the acclaimed Peter Katis, known for his work with legendary bands like Interpol and Bloc Party. The track is a nostalgic journey, featuring buoyant, jangly guitars, vintage-style backing vocals, and a rhythmic urgency that recalls classic 80s new wave. Lyrically, the song is a thoughtful reflection on "lost futures, haunted by the past," a concept that frontman Noah Learmonth was inspired to explore after reading a phrase from author Mark Fisher. The music video for "Toyota Camry" was directed by Finn Robilliard.
