Whitelands is an exciting shoegaze band from London, England. Composed of brothers Etienne and Andrew Harrison, and long-time friend Jagun Lacoul, the trio are quickly making waves with their dreamy, reverb-drenched soundscapes. They are particularly notable for being a Black shoegaze band, a significant and welcome voice in a genre where Black artists have historically been underrepresented.

Whitelands' music is characterized by its heavy, atmospheric guitars, ethereal vocals, and a nostalgic yet forward-thinking approach to shoegaze. They expertly blend the genre's classic elements with a fresh perspective, creating songs that are both immersive and emotionally resonant. They've been gaining momentum with their unique sound and compelling live performances.

"Heat Of The Summer" is a new single by Whitelands, released on June 20, 2025. It serves as a precursor to their highly anticipated debut album, "Night Motion," which is scheduled for release on September 20, 2025, via Sonic Cathedral. The single was also accompanied by a music video.

Lyrically, "Heat Of The Summer" evokes themes commonly associated with the season, but filtered through the band's characteristic introspective and perhaps melancholic lens. It might explore feelings of longing, transition, vivid memories, or the intensity of a particular moment during the summer. Given the shoegaze genre's tendency towards evocative imagery, the lyrics likely paint a picture that listeners can sink into.

Musically, "Heat Of The Summer" showcases Whitelands' signature style: expect swirling, distorted guitars, propulsive drumming, and hushed, layered vocals that create a rich, immersive sonic environment. The song promises to be a prime example of their ability to blend hazy textures with powerful melodic undercurrents, setting the tone for their upcoming debut album.
