New Music: Rocket – “Wide Awake”: L.A. Alt-Rockers Ignite Their Debut Era with Fuzzy Intensity

Rocket is a four-piece alt-rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 2021. They emerged with their acclaimed 2023 EP Versions of You, followed by relentless touring—including opening for acts like Ride, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Silversun Pickups. With a sound steeped in ’90s alt-rock and a live presence described as electrifying and raw, Rocket have been crafting songs on the road before heading into the studio. Their guitarist Desi Scaglione doubles as producer, blending fuzzy guitars with classic-pop hooks, while frontwoman Alithea Tuttle delivers emotive vocals over brooding rhythms.

“Wide Awake”:Released July 9, 2025, via Transgressive/Canvasback, “Wide Awake” is the third single off their upcoming debut album R Is For Rocket (out October 3). The track balances brooding, jagged guitars and double-tracked drums with Alithea’s hypnotic vocals. It hits like a car-chase—tense, urgent, and ready to explode into a distorted climax. Lyrically, the song explores emotional unraveling and self-awareness while navigating relationships—with introspection wrapped in alt-rock grit. Critics have praised it as an “emotionally charged” anthem and “the perfect balance of all the elements of this record”
