Nation of Language is an American indie pop, synthpop, and post-punk band formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 2016. The group consists of Ian Richard Devaney (lead vocals, guitar, synthesizer, percussion), Aidan Noell (synthesizer, backing vocals), and Alex MacKay (bass guitar). They are celebrated for their danceable and impassioned take on new wave and post-punk, often drawing clear references to '80s synth-pop bands like Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), Simple Minds, Joy Division, and Depeche Mode, while still maintaining a fresh and distinct identity. Their sound is characterized by a "weary, yet hopeful ambiance" conveyed through Ian Devaney's baritone voice and intricate analog synthesizer work. Nation of Language has released several acclaimed albums, including Introduction, Presence (2020), A Way Forward (2021), and Strange Disciple (2023), earning a reputation as "mainstays of '20s synth-pop music" and a major festival draw.

"I'm Not Ready for the Change" is a new single by Nation of Language from their upcoming album, "Dance Called Memory," which is set to be released on September 19, 2025, via Sub Pop Records. Band Page: https://www.instagram.com/nationoflanguage/
