Soulwax, the inventive Belgian duo of brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, have been reshaping the electronic and alternative music landscapes since the mid-1990s. Emerging from Ghent, they have constantly evolved through studio albums, electrifying DJ sets under their 2manydjs moniker, and groundbreaking audiovisual projects like Radio Soulwax. Their upcoming album All Systems Are Lying marks a triumphant return—their first studio record in seven years. Described as “a rock album made without any electric guitars,” it is built entirely from modular synths, live drums, tape machines, and processed vocals, further proving the duo’s appetite for experimentation.

Released in August 2025, New Earth Time is the third single from All Systems Are Lying. It pulses with Soulwax’s signature blend of infectious groove, rhythmic precision, and experimental playfulness. The track embodies the duo’s mission to capture the energy of a live band playing electronic instruments—raw, loud, and unrestrained. Its layered textures and hypnotic momentum create a futuristic heartbeat, blurring the lines between rock’s visceral grit and electronic music’s sleek precision.

The title itself is symbolic. “New Earth Time” references an alternative timekeeping system where the day is measured in degrees rather than hours—a fitting metaphor for Soulwax’s way of bending and reimagining sound, rhythm, and structure. It is both a nod to conceptual futurism and a statement of their ability to push listeners out of the ordinary.
