Why it is trending: DECEITS’ “Please, Wake Up ♱” is catching fire in the goth and alternative underground as the band continues their international rise, blending romantic intensity with fierce post-punk energy that refuses to fit neatly into any one scene.
DECEITS were co-founded in late 2021 by longtime best friends Kevin “Puppy” Moreno (vocals, instruments) and Francisco Saenz (drums, percussion), and have quickly built a cult following across Los Angeles’ alternative circuit. Proudly describing themselves as “too romantic for the punks, too fierce for the goths,” the band inject passion and vibrancy into a genre often known for cold minimalism. Drawing from their Chicano roots and the colorful rhythms of Spanish-language music they grew up with, DECEITS fuse melancholic soundscapes with dynamic, emotionally charged performances. Their 2023 independent debut album If There’s No Heaven… — featuring standout tracks like “Drowning In An Empty Sea” and “Mi Amor, Mi Vampira” — propelled them onto U.S. tours, a headline show at El Rey Theatre, and an invitation to perform at Cruel World Festival in 2025. With sold-out shows alongside She Wants Revenge and upcoming 2026 tour debuts in Europe and Mexico, their momentum shows no sign of slowing.
“Please, Wake Up ” encapsulates the band’s ethos — dramatic, urgent, and unapologetically emotional. The track surges with shimmering guitars and pulsing percussion, balancing longing and intensity in equal measure. There’s a romantic desperation woven into its delivery, yet it never loses its edge; instead, it feels alive, restless, and dangerously sincere. In true DECEITS fashion, the song doesn’t just sit in the shadows — it burns within them, proving that post-punk can be both haunting and passionately human.
