Cruel Sister, the stage name for Dublin-based artist Faith Nico, is a self-produced force in the new wave of shoegaze, noise, and alt-rock. Drawing inspiration from '90s grunge and alt-indie acts like PJ Harvey, My Bloody Valentine, and Sonic Youth, she builds towering walls of sound from her bedroom, balancing delicate vocals with screeching, visceral guitars.

Nico, who writes, produces, and mixes all her own music, has been playing guitar and writing songs since she was 11. Her artist name is inspired by the traditional murder ballad "The Twa Sisters." She has gained significant critical acclaim from music publications and a strong reputation for her massive live shows, having sold out Whelan's in Dublin and played major festivals like Eurosonic and Other Voices.

"13" is a track from Cruel Sister's new EP, "A CORPSE IS TALKING," which was officially released on July 30, 2025. The EP, a follow-up to her acclaimed Turgid EP from 2023, features five songs, including "13."

Lyrically, "13" is part of a body of work that is likely to be deeply personal and introspective. Cruel Sister's music often explores themes of angst, insecurity, and the emotional turmoil of being young. Given the title, "13" could be a reflection on the anxieties or experiences of her teenage years, using the number as a symbol for a pivotal or perhaps difficult time in her past.
