The Royston Club is a four-piece indie band from Wrexham, North Wales, that has quickly become a force in the UK indie scene. Known for their anthemic hooks, melodic guitar lines, and electrifying live shows, they've built a dedicated fanbase with their energetic and relatable brand of indie rock. Comprised of Tom Faithfull (vocals), Ben Matthias (guitar), Sam Jones (drums), and Dave Tute (bass), the band has gone from playing local pubs to selling out major venues across the UK.
The song "30/20" is a track from their album Songs From The Spine, and it's a perfect example of their ability to find a deeper meaning in everyday life. According to guitarist and main songwriter Ben Matthias, the song was inspired by a moment of "strange guilt" he felt while driving back home to Wrexham. He had been living in England and had forgotten that the speed limit in Wales had been lowered from 30 mph to 20 mph. This simple mistake of speeding became a metaphor for a much larger, more introspective question: "Had I made the right decision leaving my home and putting blind faith in a song?"
