World News is a London-based post-punk/indie rock quartet made up of Alex Evans (vocals/guitar), Rory Evans (bass), Malte Henning (drums), and Jack Tollman (rhythm guitar). They craft jangly yet atmospheric riffs with introspective, emotionally raw lyrics. Since late 2024, they’ve steadily gained traction in the UK scene via releases like Escape, Mindsnap, and Don’t Ever Meet Your Hero. Built on vintage post-punk and new wave influences—early Smiths, The Clash, Dire Straits—the band also embraces modern textures, earning praise through KEXP airplay and features in EarMilk, The Daily Music Report, and award-focused listings for refreshing, mood-driven artistry.

Released May 28, 2025 via their Pie & Mash label, “Don’t Want to Know” is a hook-filled, melancholic post-punk number recorded at RAK Studios. Built around delayed, atmospheric guitars and a 0:40 lyric build, the track captures a late-’70s/’80s aesthetic with a modern twist. Lyrics like “I don’t want to know just leave me be” reflect Alex Evans’s struggle after moving to Brighton, quitting his bar job, and sinking into isolation—giving voice to moments of depression and the desire to withdraw. The result is a poignant, nostalgic track that resonates with listeners facing overwhelm and seeking emotional escape.
