The Weave are a celebrated ensemble from Liverpool, led by bandleader Martin Smith and featuring top-tier local players—Anthony Peers (trumpet), Anthony Ormesher (guitar), Tilo Pirnbaum (drums), Rob Stringer (piano), Hugo “Harry” Harrison (double bass), and Ismael Aasgaard (trombone). Originating in 2012, they’ve earned a reputation for blending jazz influences with folk and rock sensibilities, drawing inspiration from iconic figures like Kenny Wheeler, Clark Terry, and John Martyn. With a self-titled debut that was named a DownBeat “top release of 2014” and a standout performance at the London Jazz Festival, The Weave re-emerged in 2025 with Snishoo, their first album in seven years. The group is known for vibrant, soulful performances and fresh stylistic fusion.

“Maggie Times,” a standout single from Snishoo, features a collaboration with Michael Head—the acclaimed Liverpool singer-songwriter of The Pale Fountains and Shack. The track blends The Weave’s rich, jazz-rooted instrumentation with Head’s distinctive voice, creating a lush, emotive soundscape. Highlighted by a new music video directed by James Wafer, the track emphasizes the melding of jazz improvisation, folk-rock warmth, and heartfelt vocal expression. It’s a testament to cross-genre dating—where veteran songwriting meets exploratory ensemble interplay, offering a deeply textured listening experience.
