Moss Side Sauna Club, often abbreviated to MSSC, is a three-piece band based in Manchester, UK. Formed in a "bad year," the trio — Maddy Storm, Sam Craighan, and Will Brooks (who are also the music composers for their tracks) — describe their origins as using "sauna therapy" to battle the pains of the world, leading to their unique moniker.

MSSC's sound is distinct, blending woozy guitars, digitally distorted production, emotive harmonies, and a morbid sense of humour. They intentionally aim to sound unlike other bands, transforming "turbulence into unsettlingly hooky pop motifs about love, death, and sexuality." While they embrace an eclectic mix, their style falls broadly within indie pop, rock, and experimental electronic genres, often with a "grunge edge" and "fazz-laden" sound. They are also noted for their strong design and visual direction. MSSC has quickly built hype, including a sold-out debut headline show in Manchester and performances in London, and are prolific in the studio, with an album already written and ready for release.

"My Weird Appetite" is a new single by Moss Side Sauna Club, released on June 13, 2025. It was written, recorded, and produced by MSSC themselves in Steam Room Studios, Salford, with mixing by Maddy Storm and mastering by Pete Maher (known for work with Lana Del Rey, The 1975, Pixies).

The song is described as a "brilliant new single" that offers a "unique introduction to their dazzling sound," featuring a "swathe of experimental electronics and pulsating samples." While specific lyrical themes are not explicitly detailed, given the band's overall approach, "My Weird Appetite" likely delves into:

  • Darkly humorous perspectives: Reflecting their "morbid sense of humour" and themes of love, death, and sexuality.

  • Contradictions and the absurd: Mirroring their debut "Freak" which explored Catholic guilt, intimacy, and sexual freedom with a sardonic wit.

  • The feeling of being overwhelmed or driven by unusual desires, fitting the "weird appetite" title in a modern, often chaotic context.
