Lip Critic is a cutting-edge New York City-based electronic punk band that has rapidly garnered attention for its unique and abrasive sound. The project is primarily composed of Bret Kaser (vocals, sampler), Connor Kleitz (sampler), Danny Eberle (drums), and Ilan Natter (drums, also credited as a member in some sources, alongside the core trio).

Their unconventional instrumentation, featuring two samplers and two drummers, allows them to execute an eclectic blend of punk, hardcore, club, and modernistic pop sounds with remarkable intensity and inhibition. Lip Critic's music is often described as maximalist, experimental, and percussive, creating a "human circuit board" of potent sonic currents. They draw influences from a wide array of artists, including Death Grips, Melt-Banana, Soul Coughing, Machine Girl, and Atari Teenage Riot, creating a sound that is both abrasive and undeniably engaging. Signed to Partisan Records, they released their critically acclaimed debut album, Hex Dealer, in May 2024. Their live performances are legendary for their improvisation, experimentation, and sheer frenetic energy.

"Second Life" is a brand new single by Lip Critic, officially released on July 9, 2025. It was released as a double A-side single alongside "Mirror Match," marking their first new music since their debut album Hex Dealer.

While the exact lyrical themes of "Second Life" are open to interpretation, the title suggests a narrative around transformation, rebirth, a new beginning, or perhaps a different perspective on existence. Given Lip Critic's often cryptic and raw lyricism, "Second Life" could explore concepts such as:

  • Escapism or reinvention: A desire to break free from past constraints or identities.

  • The pursuit of new experiences: Stepping into an unfamiliar phase of life.

  • The emotional landscape of change: The challenges and exhilaration of seeking a different path.

  • The digital self vs. real self: A nod to the concept of a "second life" in virtual or online worlds.
