KNEECAP is a highly controversial and acclaimed Irish hip-hop trio from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Composed of Mo Chara (Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh), Móglaí Bap (Naoise Ó Caireallain), and DJ Próvaí (J. J. Ó Dochartaigh), they are known for rapping in a dynamic mixture of English and Irish (Gaeilge). Their music is deeply intertwined with Irish republicanism and often focuses on working-class Belfast youth culture, Irish language rights, and strong political statements. They've been at the center of debates about free speech and express their political views with a "wicked sense of humour," often described as "political with small p's," incorporating elements of partying and youth life. Their debut album, Fine Art, was released in June 2024.

MOZEY (real name Michael James Hitches) is a British drum and bass producer and DJ from Essex. He is a rising star in the D&B scene, known for his infectious energy and innovative production style. Mozey's sound is characterized by a unique blend of dark, gritty basslines, soulful melodies, and intricate drum patterns, making his tracks popular among DJs and ravers. While his primary genre is D&B, he has a background in alternative music like metal and punk, which influences his distinctive approach to electronic music.

"THE RECAP" is a potent collaboration between KNEECAP and drum and bass artist MOZEY, officially released as a single on May 23, 2025. It is also a track on KNEECAP's upcoming album, though the specific album title isn't confirmed beyond "TBA" for the chart listing. The song was made available on streaming platforms by Heavenly Recordings under exclusive license to [PIAS], with a "bootleg" version also circulating on SoundCloud.

Lyrically, "THE RECAP" is a sharp and politically charged commentary on contemporary British politics, specifically targeting Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch and her attempts to block KNEECAP's arts funding. The song begins with a sample of a news report about a police investigation into the band, directly referencing the real-life controversies surrounding them, including a terror charge against Mo Chara.

Musically, "THE RECAP" is propelled by drum and bass beats provided by Mozey, blending KNEECAP's signature Irish and English bilingual hip-hop delivery with a driving electronic rhythm. This fusion creates a track that is both a powerful political statement and a high-energy dance track.
