CLOBBER is a fiercely energetic hardcore punk band from London, UK. Formed in late 2021, the four-piece quickly carved out a significant name for themselves in the UK punk scene, known for their blisteringly fast, short bursts of music and uncompromising attitude. They embrace a strong DIY ethos, famously cementing their name with a debut show in a Soho barbershop.
The band comprises Charlie Longman (vocals), and Joey Brazil (guitar), with other members also having done time in various hardcore and punk bands. CLOBBER's sound is a potent mix of '77 style punk with modern, explosive hardcore, incorporating dance-baiting parts designed to ignite mosh pits. Lyrically, they are unapologetically political, directly addressing the harsh realities of living in Britain, societal dismissal, and taking a stand against governmental issues. They've earned a reputation for their aggressive, unfiltered sound, and intense live performances, sharing stages with legends like Sick of it All and Madball. They are signed to Venn Records.
"Be Someone" is the lead single from CLOBBER's forthcoming digital EP, "God Loves, Man Kills," which is set for release on August 1, 2025, via Venn Records. The single itself was officially released on July 9, 2025.
Lyrically, "Be Someone" is a deeply personal and powerful anthem about finding the courage to live again and striving to be the best version of oneself, even in the face of immense hardship. Frontman Charlie Longman describes it as being born from a very bleak period in his own life in 2024, where he battled with the desire to simply stay isolated. The song is a testament to the transformative power of choosing to "go out and live," highlighting the positive impact of friendships, community (especially through the band), and ultimately, personal connection. He states, "Be Someone is about finding the courage to live again in spite of how hard it might be sometimes. To always go get the rock. To be the best version of yourself ever.” The song is also explicitly dedicated to his future wife, whom he met during that challenging but ultimately transformative year.
