Silver Dollar Room are an Edinburgh-based band fusing the grit of ’90s grunge with introspective, cinematic rock. Originally founded in 2023 by guitarist/producer Jamie Turnbull and drummer Douglas McDonald, the project quickly grew into a full lineup with vocalist John Keenan, rhythm guitarist Jen Bain, and bassist Ryan Shearer. Their sound is raw yet layered—balancing haunting vocals with textured instrumentation—and lyrically they tackle themes of mental health, addiction, poverty, and social divides. With their upcoming album It Can’t Rain All the Time (out 12 September 2025), the band are carving a space as storytellers of modern struggles.

Released on 5 September 2025, Normal People” is a standout single from It Can’t Rain All the Time. True to the band’s ethos, the track blends emotional honesty with a grunge-tinged edge, creating a sound that’s as cinematic as it is relatable. While full lyrical details are yet to unfold publicly, the song’s very title suggests a meditation on everyday lives and struggles, grounding Silver Dollar Room’s signature rawness in universal human experience. It’s a fitting preview of an album that promises to be both heavy-hitting and deeply resonant.
