Panic Shack is a punk rock band from Cardiff, Wales, formed in 2018. The group consists of Sarah Harvey (lead vocals), Meg Fretwell (guitar, backing vocals), Romi Lawrence (guitar, backing vocals), Emily Smith (bass), and Nick Doherty-Williams (drums). They are recognized for their raw energy, unfiltered humor, and feminist perspectives, often addressing societal issues through their music. Their latest single, "Gok Wan," released on March 4, 2025, critiques the toxic beauty standards propagated by early 2000s television makeover shows. The song reflects on how these programs influenced perceptions of body image, particularly among young viewers. The band drew inspiration from shows like "How to Look Good Naked," hosted by Gok Wan, as well as "Trinny & Susannah" and "10 Years Younger," highlighting the pervasive nature of body shaming during that era.
