MacKenzie is an alt-pop artist quickly becoming one of the most exciting rising stars in the genre. Known for her emotionally charged storytelling and infectious melodies, she blends pop, country, and rock influences while channeling the rebellious spirit of the early 2000s. Inspired by icons like Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus, MacKenzie fuses youthful defiance with heartfelt sincerity, resulting in music that feels nostalgic yet fresh.

Her powerful vocals and honest songwriting have earned her spots on BBC Radio 1 via Alyx Holcombe, Nels Hylton, and Mollie King (who called her “Avril Lavigne and Taylor Swift’s musical baby”), as well as coverage in Wonderland Magazine. With a reputation for electrifying live performances, MacKenzie has lit up stages from Portsmouth to London, including major festivals like Victorious Festival 2024, Icebreaker Festival, and Discover Live Showcase — and is set to play Y Not, Truck, Tramlines, Kendal Calling, and Victorious in 2025

“9-5” marks MacKenzie’s debut EP release — a fiery alt-pop anthem about breaking out of the grind and reclaiming your freedom. Packed with soaring vocals, crunchy guitars, and a chorus made for screaming along, the track channels the angst and empowerment of early 2000s pop-rock while giving it a 2025 twist. It’s both a rallying cry and a release — the sound of refusing to settle for the ordinary.
