Indigo Fire began as a late-night dream in a garden, sparked by two school friends, Guy Martland and Pete Burdon, after seeing The Cure's Wish Tour. Their journey as a band is a testament to perseverance, spanning three decades of friendship and diverse careers in medicine and the life sciences. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they finally began collaborating, with help from Dan Skinner, and released their debut single, "Lyrics for a Song," in 2025. Now, the pair is focused on completing their album, Incipient, before another thirty years pass.

With eclectic tastes that span rock, pop, jazz, and classical music, their sound is a rich tapestry of influences. Their music collection, and likely their sound, is shaped by artists like Pink Floyd, The Cure, Depeche Mode, REM, Radiohead, and Joy Division.

The song "Gone Away" is a powerful and poignant track from their recent work. The title itself suggests a theme of loss, absence, or a farewell. The lyrics are a raw and honest exploration of this feeling, and the track's sound, with its lush, atmospheric melodies and a sense of introspective melancholy, mirrors this internal struggle. It’s a testament to the band’s ability to turn moments of quiet sadness into a powerful and moving song.
