IDLES is a British-Irish post-punk band formed in Bristol, UK, in 2009. The quintet consists of Joe Talbot (vocals), Mark Bowen (guitar), Lee Kiernan (guitar), Adam Devonshire (bass), and Jon Beavis (drums).
Known for their raw, aggressive, and often cathartic sound, IDLES has redefined the post-punk genre with their music and powerful social commentary. They are renowned for their brutally honest stance on social issues like racism, bigotry, and toxic masculinity, delivering messages of support and positivity through visceral punk energy. After years of honing their electrifying live performances, they released their critically acclaimed debut album, Brutalism, in 2017, followed by Joy as an Act of Resistance (2018), Ultra Mono (2020), Crawler (2021), and Tangk (2024).
"Rabbit Run" is a brand-new original song by IDLES, officially released today, July 30, 2025. This track is a key part of the soundtrack for Darren Aronofsky's upcoming film, "Caught Stealing," starring Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz. The film and its accompanying soundtrack album are both set to be released on August 29, 2025, with the soundtrack issued via Partisan Records. IDLES contributed four original tracks and also performed the full film score, composed by Rob Simonsen.
Lyrically, "Rabbit Run" is described as a "lean, anxious punk ripper that starts in a panic and ends in defiance." Fueled by its connection to the film "Caught Stealing," which draws inspiration from the gritty energy of the 1990s New York punk scene, the song directly mirrors the film's central theme of confronting fear head-on. The lyrics, reportedly improvised on the fly by Joe Talbot during recording, contribute to its raw and urgent feel.
