Beauty School is an eloquent emo-infused alternative-rock band hailing from Leeds, UK. The quintet comprises Joe Cabrera (vocals), Daniel Shaw (guitar), Grant Beeden Clayton (guitar), Jordan Hill (guitar), and Charlie Thomas (drums). Their sound is a powerful fusion of diverse influences, including pop-punk, alt-rock, and indie-rock, creating a heartfelt and emotionally charged collection of songs.
Formed from years of playing in various bands together and long-term friendships, Beauty School released their debut album, Happiness, in 2022. They are known for their punchy, melodic muscle, stirring guitar work, and Joe Cabrera's bold, emotive vocals, which are consistently backed by a spirited and efficient instrumental outfit. Their music explores themes of maturity, reflecting on past experiences, both good and bad, and the lessons learned. They've garnered support from BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, Upset Magazine, and Rock Sound.
"Lately" is a brand-new single by Beauty School, officially released on July 30, 2025. This track also serves as the announcement for their highly anticipated sophomore album, "From Now On," which is scheduled for release on October 3, 2025, via Slam Dunk Records.
Lyrically, "Lately" is a deeply personal and vulnerable song that touches on themes of workplace neglect, mental health struggles, and a feeling of falling apart. Guitarist Dan Shaw revealed that the song was specifically inspired by his experiences with workplace neglect. The lyrics convey a sense of weariness, introspection, and a struggle with one's own well-being.
