The NFL’s new 10-year, $100 billion-with-a-B broadcast rights package is both a reaffirmation of the standing order and a complete break with tradition. Yes, all your favorite stalwarts — Fox, NBC, CBS, ESPN — will continue to broadcast the most valuable property on television. But beyond that, a new player — Amazon — has entered the chat, and the role of streaming services in bringing games to you is only going to increase. “Football on your phone” was a cute gimmick when the Brothers Manning rapped it back in 2013 … but by 2030, it’s going to be the norm.
