Movie of the Day: Les Indésirables (2023) by Ladj Ly

A committed and determined young woman, Haby discovers with amazement the worrying redevelopment plan for her childhood neighborhood validated by Pierre Forges, the new mayor of her town, Montvilliers. Determined to put an end to incivility, the latter wishes to destroy certain building blocks to clear the way and breathe new life into this city, reputed to be among the most dangerous in Seine-Saint-Denis. But Haby refuses to give in without a fight, aware that the application of the plan will involve the expulsion of large families who will not be able to settle in the housing provided, deliberately unsuitable for their situation.
