In 2017, the Whanganui River in New Zealand was the first river in the world to be given the same rights as humans. It was the result of years of legal battle by the Māori, who see the river as a full-fledged spiritual being. Māori river keeper Ned Tapa takes a group of people on a five-day canoe trip on this sacred river. Among them was a film crew that captured this inspiring journey.
